Alternative choices are included so you can read every explanation.

Take two. Before bidding.

Here is Raid. Its green border means you play it before the starter begins bidding. Choose one player to take two chips from. In this example, Maya has no Secure to block you.

Take two chips from Maya. Watch them move straight to your pile. You now have eight, and Maya has six. The bank and the bidding stash stay exactly where they are.

Flip the outcome.

A fresh example: you hold Reverse and an Ace. The declaration is highest wins. Play your red-bordered Reverse before anyone reveals their playing card.

Turn the declaration over. Highest becomes lowest. The same cards are still in play; what changes is which end of the ranks wins.

Now reveal. Your Ace beats Maya’s King and Noah’s four under lowest wins. All nine stash chips come to you. Reverse changed the outcome before the cards were shown.

Claim the whole stash.

Here is Loot, with its blue border. All playing cards have been revealed, and Maya’s ten beat your four. But she has no Secure. You can still claim the stash.

Play Loot. All eleven chips move from the stash to you, even though your playing card lost. You finish with nineteen. The round winner could have blocked this with Secure.

Protect what you won.

A new example: this time, your King won the round. Maya tries to take your winnings with Loot. You are holding Secure.

Play Secure to block her Loot. Her claim is cancelled. No stash chips go to Maya. Secure can also protect you against Raid.

Now collect your winnings. All ten stash chips come to you. You finish with seventeen, while Maya stays at eight. Remember: each of these demonstrations is a separate situation.

70 chips in this example · 30 ready to deal + 40 in the bank
