Three chips. One loan.
It is your turn, and you have just one chip. You hold Loan. It lets you borrow three chips from the bank during your own turn.
Borrow three chips. They arrive from the bank, taking your pile to four. Record one loan: three chips owed. The stash has not changed.
Keep the debt visible.
Keep your debt reminder visible. One outstanding loan means you owe three chips. The reminder records a debt; it does not give you extra chips. After you win a round, you repay the loan.
A later round is yours.
Jump ahead to a later round that you win. This example has no intervening payments. Collect the eight-chip stash. You now have twelve chips, but three are still owed to the bank.
Send three back.
Repay the three borrowed chips. Watch them leave your pile and return to the bank. Clear the debt reminder. You finish with nine chips, the bank has twelve, and nothing is owed.
70 chips in this example · 30 ready to deal + 40 in the bank
